The Grundy Herd of Horned Cattle was founded in 1968 with the purchase of two maiden heifers (both "Dianas") from the 'Huddleston' herd, followed by the dispersal of the 'J Tustins Harrold' herd providing some good cows and heifers which launched the Grundy herd onto the show circuit.

Later on, cattle from herds such as 'Eaton', 'Pentus', 'Westwood', 'Beaudesert', 'Costhorpe' and 'Onondaga Canada' were added further strengthening the Grundy herd.

The herd was renamed 'Masefield Herefords' with the change to poll breeding around 1976 which started with the purchase of the bull "B.C. 1 Ideal", one of many bulls bought over the years from top quality herds such as 'Costhorpe', 'Lowsmoor' , 'Kaypark' and 'Onondaga Canada'.

The new bull for 2004 is "Island 1 Warrior" by the Australian bull "Wiranya Batavia" and he looks very promising!
